Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone to walk the ramp on April 19



Not long ago it was announced that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone will be walking the ramp together at Manish Malhotra’s Mijwan Fashion Show, which is a charity fundraiser organized by Shabana Azmi’s NGO every year.  But, due to the ill health of the two actors the show was cancelled at the very last moment. And now, the show has been rescheduled for April 19.

In fact, the spokesperson of both the actors confirmed the same. For the uninitiated, Ranbir and Deepika were supposed to walk the ramp together at the Mijwan Fashion Show on April 9. But, at the time the reports of the two actors falling ill started doing rounds which is when the spokesperson of the event also confirmed the news. The official statement read, “Our show stoppers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have taken ill and we are waiting for them to recover.”

This came as a truly unexpected shock to the fans as the event had already created quite a buzz. Ranbir earlier spoke about walking on the show in an interview with a leading daily,. He’ said, “We, the young people of India, need to turn our attention towards rural India and focus on empowering the girl child. My sister Riddhima and I were raised as equals and I want every girl and boy to be treated equally. To my young friends, I say “Be the Change you wish to see in the world. You can do it and your time starts now.”

Deepika also revealed her excitement for walking for a cause in an interview with a leading daily, “I have walked the ramp many times before, but this is truly a fashion show with a difference because Manish Malhotra bridges the urban-rural divide by taking the traditional craft of chikankari and fashioning it into contemporary silhouettes in his signature style.Mijwan Welfare Societyswork over the last 9 years has been instrumental in giving the women and girl children of Mijwan the confidence to negotiate a better future for themselves. Congratulations to Shabanaji and Namrata for carrying forward Kaifi Saheb’s dream and inspiring us to become active participants in the process of change.”
